Randy Adkins grew up between Gallia County and Columbus, eventually settling in Morgan Township where he lives with his family and has served as a Township Trustee for more than 20 years.
During his early years, Randy attended North Gallia for the first half of high school, then finished up as a graduate of Westland High School.
After graduation, Randy joined the United States Army, serving 6 years on Active Duty. During his time in the military, Randy spent time at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Stewart, Georgia, Kransburg, Germany, and Geisen, Germany where he was asked to join the Special Weapons (Nuclear) section. Randy was honorably discharged following his years of service and is classified as a disabled Veteran.
Once he separated from the military, Randy took a job in Georgia where he worked his way up from construction to technician, eventually accepting an assistant manager position with a Hershey, Pennsylvania based cable company that had operations in 8 states. Based out of South Carolina, Randy traveled to every state system to offer professional support.
After the cable company sold, Randy became the manager of Miller Enterprises in South Carolina where he oversaw an 1,800 acre farm with 17 rental properties, an ostrich farm, 4 greenhouses, and a flower shop.
In 1993, Randy returned to Ohio to put down permanent roots. Upon returning home, Randy worked for Brown’s Hardware, where he became a Stihl technician. In 2008, he went to work for O’Dell Lumber where he oversees the Stihl shop and is a Stihl Ambassador.
As Township Trustee, Randy has been involved with several grants, has helped purchase 2 new trucks, 1 new backhoe, upgraded to newer grader and newer tractor, helped facilitate a deal where land was donated for a new township lot and new cemetery, and assisted with many other community focused growth and improvement endeavors.
Randy is dedicated to Gallia County, is actively involved with local veterans organizations, supports local businesses and downtown revitalization projects, and enjoys attending local high school sporting events—especially football games.
As Commissioner, Randy would like to work towards increasing funding to help combat the opioid problems within Gallia County. He would also like to devote his time and efforts to getting dumpsites throughout the County cleaned up.
Randy is honest, hardworking, and is always willing to lend a hand or offer advice. He stands for the flag, kneels to pray, believes in Gallia County, and is ready to work for you.
